It was the most memorable evening for more than seven thousands of brothers assembled in Makkah Masjid in Chennai last Sunday.
They had assembled there to embrace and express their joy and pleasure to Dr Abdullah, formerly Professor Periyar Dasan who has embraced Islam this month.
Dr Abdullah poured his thoughts in his own style and enchanted the audience. One could see swelled eyes and blissful faces everywhere when he declared அல்லாஹ் நாடினான்; நான் மாறிவிட்டேன். - Allah naadinane naan mari vittane - Allah willed; I transformed myself!' Allah Akber.

Dr Abdullah Sahib, Assalamu alaikum.
I am very happy that you have embraced Islam. The Muslims of Tamil Nadu are very happy that a scholar like you have embraced Islam.
A piece of advice and word of caution to you from this old man. Till this date you have made fiery attacks on Hinduism. You have ridiculed Hindu concepts, Gods, faiths etc. People burst into laughter in a fraction of second when they hear those punch dialogues from you.
But, please remember that you are not Periyar Dasan anymore. You are Dr. Abdullah now. And a Muslim could not and should not ridicule other religions and beliefs. It should be foremost in your mind and reflected in your actions.
Besides, people would tolerate anything and everything said by Periyar Dasan. But the same people may not tolerate the same comments and sarcastic remarks from Dr Abdullah.
